TellAsia is expanding its outreach to children!
The all-new Blue Haven Village is a project to construct and operate a fully self-supporting children’s home, school, and medical clinic in the Ganges River area of north India. The facility will accommodate 100 orphan and at-risk children and educate 800-1,000 boys and girls grades K-12 with no further need for outside financial support. This will establish a reproducible model allowing hundreds more orphan and needy children to be rescued for years to come.
We loved living onsite for a year at the current Blue Haven Children’s Home. TellAsia has operated this children’s home since 2005, providing an English language education and a Christian upbringing to 32 boys and girls. Some are orphans, while others come from desperately poor families who are unable to care for them.
These village children will leave Blue Haven as young adults with English proficiency, basic computer skills, and a commitment to the Christian values of honesty, integrity, and hard work. They will be positioned for success in a country desperate for trustworthy, competent leaders.
This region of India is home to 35 million at-risk children. Many drop out of school before 5th grade due to poverty. Many are malnourished and end up exploited through child labor or prostitution. Their parents or guardians are at the bottom of an oppressive caste system, and have no way of escape. There are some secular and Christian organizations trying to address this massive problem, but often they are limited by their dependency on ongoing funding from foreign sponsors.
The new Blue Haven Village (located on the outskirts of the city in a rapidly developing area) will bustle with the happy sounds of hundreds of children studying, singing, and playing. Members of the local Hindu community will enroll their children at the Blue Haven Day School and will line up to receive basic medical care at the Blue Haven Health Clinic. International teams will be able to stay onsite to participate in the life-impacting ministry happening at Blue Haven.
Please pray that Shari and I would be successful in promoting this project in the USA and developing new partnerships to help fund it. The cost of the entire project is amazingly low by USA standards, and Blue Haven’s impact in this region of Uttar Pradesh will be enormous.
