Earlier this month I drove 1486 miles in the American Midwest in a Nissan Sentra with my Indian friend Alok S__ sitting next to me. In six days we visited five states, met with two Christian foundations, visited four pastors, and attended two intercessory prayer meetings focused on India. We ate at Chinese buffet restaurants five times (lots of rice and chicken for Alok), drank bottled water without stopping, listened to Hindi worship songs, and tried to follow the driving instructions from the GPS... but finally yanked the cord one night in Oklahoma. We discussed every topic you can imagine related to leadership training, church planting, and children’s work in north India.

Shari and I worked side by side with Alok and his wife Ricky when we lived in India in 2010-2011. We ate at their table, traveled with them to villages, and did ministry together. Alok oversees almost 2000 leaders in central and western Uttar Pradesh, He shares responsibility for developing and implementing field-level strategy for TellAsia’s 2020 Network, a church planting movement that has seen more than 9000 churches planted and 200,000 decisions for Christ since 2008.
Two of the pastors we met continue to deepen their relationship with TellAsia through visits to India and significant financial support of TellAsia’s projects. They have embraced Alok as a ministry partner, and are committed to supporting Alok’s vision to reach his homeland with the gospel. TellAsia is a “hidden gem” in north India, and Alok and his team are worthy of our support.
One of my roles as Development Director with TellAsia Ministries is to nurture these partnerships with churches and foundations, as well as develop new relationships with USA leaders. It was a privilege (and fun!) to host one of our key Indian leaders for a few days here in the American heartland.
